AA.VV. - There’s A Hole In Heaven Where Some Sin Slips Through - CD |
Con Knife In The Water (“Two Girls”), Michael J. Sheehy (“St. John The Gambler”), Christian Kjellvander (“Heavenly Houseboat Blues”), Marah (“You Are Not Needed Now”), Jim White & Mike Ferrio (“To Live Is To Fly”), Nacho Vegas (“Que Te Vaya Bien, Miss Carrusel”), Jon Langford, Sally Timms & John Rice (“White Freightliner Blues”), Ben Weaver (“Highway Kind”), David Munyon (“Snowin’ On Raton”) abbiamo riletture country/folk sull’ordinario, intese in senso tradizionalista.
In una posizione intermedia, ad omaggiare con irruenza rock o con una discreta classe, si collocano Steve Wynn & The Miracle 3 (“Lungs”), Willard Grant Conspiracy (“If I Needed You”), Chris & Carla (“Nothin’”) e The Walkabouts (“Snake Mountain Blues”).
Conquistano invece il podio i Tindersticks (“Kathleen”, jazzata e dai toni spettrali, risalente al 1994), Johnny Dowd (“Brand New Companion”, un ‘hip-blues’ cerebrale), Paal Flaata (“Waiting Around To Die”, cupa scarnezza caveana, già edita su “Frozen – A Selection Of Polarized Country”) e Gary Heffern & The Walkabouts (“Sanitarium Blues”, tutta ‘disturbi alle frequenze’ ed echi dub, registrata nel 1997) per aver trasceso l’essenza intima degli originali con personalità e sguardo critico.
