Cat Werk Imprint are pleased to announce the release of the new Olivia Louvel album 'Beauty Sleep' on the 05/09/14. Available as a cd digipack (dvd size).

Bats, fox and birds form the animalist backdrop for her fifth studio album created in virtual rural isolation, in the West Sussex countryside under the "shed". 'Beauty Sleep' sees her returning to a song format after her abstract composition 'ō, music for haiku'.

'Beauty Sleep' conveys through 11 tracks, cinematic spirits, shamanic visions, rituals with the spirit of Yma Sumac (the 1950's soprano of exotica music) appearing as a lost woman in the forest of hallucination ('But You Know'). Tripping through a field of pop surrealism. A bird-woman, revealing her claws, impersonation, perhaps a black crow queen...

Olivia Louvel is a French-born, British composer, producer and performer, crafting electronic songs with laptop and voice.
Her innovative and quirky songwriting brought her to recently open for Planningtorock at the earsthetic Festival and also for The Irrepressibles, both at the Brighton Dome.

In 2011 she won the Qwartz Album at the Qwartz Electronic Music Awards for her third album "Doll Divider".“Doll Divider” was derived from A4 paintings which she made using pages from fashion magazines and repainting on top of the photos of the models. Collectively these paintings are called "Processed Dolls".

In 2010, she supported Recoil (the musical project of former Depeche Mode member Alan Wilder) for various concerts on the European "Selected" tour.

She is working between the areas of experimental electronic music and popular music. Her music has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 6, RBB Radio Eins, Bayern 2 Radio, France Musique, WFMU.
Her previous production "ō, music for haiku", based on haiku by poet Bashō (1644-1694), was released in December 2012. "ō, music for haiku" was nominated for the Prix Ars Electronica 2013.
